Nokia Lumia 800 – a review.

When last year Microsoft and Nokia joined their hands to beat Android phones, everyone was expecting a good come back. This has to happen when Nokia launched its new Lumia series of Windows mobile phone. This brought a feeling of Nokia coming back and regaining the phone market, but this time it has come up with fully upgraded hardware and software which gives a special look in its design and a better performance off course.

Hardware and Design

The Nokia Lumia is 3.7 inches which is little more than iPhone 4S (3.5”) but yes its smaller than HTC Titan(4.7”) and gives a good comfort while holding the device. The screen size is 480 X 800 pixels which is backed up by AMOLED touchscreen for bright display panel and even supports multitouch sensitivity. Lumia 800 has Corning Gorilla Glass protection which gives the extra care for the screen from any damage. To get a good speed for Microsoft Windows Mango OS, Lumia 800 is fully updated with high-end chipset of Qualcomm MSM8255 Snapdragon and has used 1.4 GHz Scorpion processor. By getting a good support from processor it boosts up its multi-tasking features.
To make Nokia Lumia 800 scratch proof and few drop resistance, its body is covered up with polycarbonate (which is lightweight and tough plastic). On the right side of the panel you can find the volume keys and the lock button for the screen. It also has a camera button which is dedicated to get the direct access for the camera. You can find the audio 3.5mm jack and micro USB charging port on the top left of the phone. The SIM slot has to be mounted, to insert the only supported micro SIM cards as used in iPad.

Camera and Memory

For camera lovers, Nokia Lumia 800 is a good deal. It is equipped with 8 Mega pixel Carl Zeiss optics lens, which gives a good experience of photography in a mobile phone. It also has a dual LED flash which adds little more light to the pictures. The clarity of images is much higher and the lens adjusts itself to auto focus level in less time than expected. The Images captured can be geo-tagged easily. The sad part about Lumia 800 is that it does not have a camera placed in front panel. This is a disadvantage for the phone and do not allow to do a video conferencing though it supports 3G network.
It has a 16GB storage memory to place your files, music and videos. The storage is built up internally and do not allow external expansion. This limitation of 16GB space can be filled because it supports Microsoft Windows Phone 7.5 operating system and being windows users you can get a Microsoft Skydrive option which gives another 25GB of cloud space to syncyour files. It has a 512MB of internal RAM which helps you to give a better performance on the application used in the phone.

Bottom line

Nokia Lumia 800 is a good phone to be used. Lumia 800 supports most of social networking sites than flash and has a lot of applications. Microsoft Windows 7.5 Mango OS has well placed icons and features to make it user-friendly. The touch sensitivity gives the user a better experience than in any other Nokia mobiles with other OS. The phone has only micro SIM slot which needs to be sized if you have an old SIM cards. Now, I am expecting more Windows phone from Nokia and the competition tough with Google Android phones. Click here to get the updated price for Nokia Lumia 800.
